The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing offers traveling fellowships to cover the cost of attending the annual New Horizons in Science briefings for journalists, part of the ScienceWriters joint meeting. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the day-long professional workshops sponsored by the National Association of Science Writers that immediately precede the briefing.
The fellowships are intended primarily for reporters from smaller metropolitan print and broadcast news outlets, freelancers and webcasters with a demonstrated interest in science writing. The maximum amount of the fellowship is $1,200. International applicants, please note that these fellowships provide post-conference reimbursement for airfare, hotel nights during the New Horizons briefings Oct. 14-15, and ground transportation only. The level of support is based on travel costs for attendees from North American locations.
Further details about New Horizons and the fellowships may be found on this page. If you do not have a Submittable account, press the "Create Account and Continue" button after entering your account information to access the online application form.
